When Carly Findlay (writer, speaker and appearance activist) married her Adam, we just knew that it would be a special day of celebrations. We wanted to be there to capture their special day and what unfolded in front of us was as heart-warming as it could get.
Carly & Adam – #carlyheartsadam
Carly has a rare condition called Ichthyosis (a rare genetic skin condition) which leaves her constantly itchy and sore every day. There is no cure for her condition, only treatments. Carly is a talented writer who brings awareness to what it’s like for those living with a visibly different appearance. Take a look at her blog to see what life is like from Carly’s point of view. Through the blog, she wants to educate us about and influence the way we perceive disability.
When we first heard about Carly getting married, we instantly thought that she must have photographers vying to for the job of photographing this. She was a public figure who people admire and look up to. When she asked if anyone knew of a good photographer for her wedding, we reached out and offered to take the job. Since Carly was doing so much good for others, we agreed to donate the fee which we charged her to some charities we love to support. It was a feel-good event which celebrated the union of beautiful, kind-hearted women and her man who rode down the aisle on his handmade bicycle.
Urban look wedding photos in Melbourne
Carly and Adam wanted an urban look for their photos. We utilised the bustling Balaclava life and the wonderful graffiti wall art scattered around the area. With the bridal team in tow and some foil balloons in the shape of a ‘C’ and ‘A’ and a heart, we had fun walking the streets of Balaclava and snapping some beautiful images of the newlyweds.
Love and laughter – Fun and emotion
There was no shortage of love and laughter that day. We had so much fun doing something which we loved to do – photographing a couple’s magical moments. The speakers reduced us to tears of laughter and the party had plenty of feet shuffling on the dance floor, dancing to some tunes from Bob Evans. Red Scooter was a fabulous event space which made sure that the guests left full in the tummy and in spirit.
To Carly and Adam, thank you for choosing us as your wedding photographers. Enjoy some highlights of your wonderful day.
