We captured the behind the scenes of a lifestyle shoot in New York. The shoot was planned by a press photographer for an Australian Newspaper and we covered some behind the scenes shot to be used for social media and marketing by the client. It’s just showcasing a few images of the three locations but you get the concept of our style of photography – natural shots and telling a bit of story – quite opposite to the press photographs which need to showcase everything in one image. On social media you have the benefit of presenting more images of the shoot. You can focus on details and the surrounding and tell a story.
It’s much harder to do this in one image. But even when you use images for an advertsining campaign for your marketing you might opt to picture more images of the shoot. Presenting them in a collage or storyline. Our lifestyle photography – which we usually capture in Melbourne not in New York is relaxed and fun.
Editorial Photography
Photographing moments like these is more fast paced than you think. You need a stylist, make up artist, location scout, assistants to hold light equipment, marketing people. There is usually a lot going on which the images don’t show. The shoot for the three locations too a bit over half a day but don’t forget the planning time.
Not everything goes to plan – streets can be blocked, constructions pop up, cars are parked in the wrong spot. When you shoot in a public space which you can’t fully control you have to improvise.
